Doctrine 2 First Stable Version Is Out

The release of the first stable version of Doctrine 2 was announced on the company’s official blog on December 21. The development team has been working on the release for 2.5 years, and finally presented it to users.

New Doctrine is a collaborative work of the core team working on the main parts of the code and many developers contributing small patches and features. The new ORM has clean architecture and powerful algorithms making it way faster than Doctrine 1. Improved performance and ease-of-use ensure consistent user experience and smooth development process. Doctrine 2 code is said to be more stable and much more maintainable than Doctrine 1.

It took much time to develop the second version of Doctrine, thus, the core team made sure to provide complete and well-thought-out documentation. The current documentation contains flaws, but it has a very detailed reference guide and a small tutorial to get started.

One more point that is worth to be mentioned is compatibility. Doctrine 2 is not backwards compatible; it has nothing in common with the first version. The authors explained it in the following way:”We think Doctrine 1 has architectural flaws that cannot be fixed.
